For the eighth year, the London Design Festival will be assembling some of the world’s best design talent with a record 240 installations, exhibitions, product launches, talks and parties celebrating design. The centrepiece this year will be the appearance of ‘Outrace’ – eight gigantic, ‘dancing’ Audi robots in Trafalgar Square, which perform choreographed light paintings. The V&A, the hub of the Festival, will host talks, events and shows, and The RCA, the Design Museum and the University of the Arts are also major partners. There’s even an Anti Design Festival this year, in Shoreditch! Stores including Liberty and Heals are taking part and the big trade fairs – 100% Design, Origin and Tent – provide outlets for new design talent as well as the established names.
