It really was a stand-out event and a highlight of the week for me Nicole Swengley
Design Miami/ made their Milan debut last week at the Salone with ‘Craft Punk’. The 3-day event in partnership with FENDI had everyone buzzing as 10 of the most promising young designers engaged in live ‘performances’, turning Spazio FENDI into a ‘glam laboratory’. Design Miami/ asked each designer to interpret the theme ‘Craft Punk’ into their processes and FENDI offered up a treasure chest of discarded and archival materials and the help of their Selleria craftsmen. The result was an electric display of individuality and creativity as designers like Simon Hasan, Sarah Becker and Studio Glithero created pieces before our very eyes. Archival video footage played out on a giant screen while music and drinks from Campari complimented the festive atmosphere. Outside, Studio Liberty welded away decked out in head-to-toe FENDI leather and guests drooled over custom FENDI bicycles as they walked in. The week ended with a private party for 150 VIPs who mingled with models and designers, sipped champagne, enjoyed a delicious Italian buffet dinner and danced the night away. The highlight was the coveted limited-edition FENDI linen tote bags with leather straps given to each guest.
