1041

Last night I was lucky to be invited to the V&A to a gala dinner to celebrate All Eyes on Korea, a 100 day festival of Korean Culture taking place all over London including the V&A, the South Bank Centre and the Royal Albert Hall. Celebrating the best of K-Arts, K-Literature, K-Fashion, K-Music and K-Culture the festival features a myriad of Korean creative talent. We were treated to a fashion show by leading Korean fashion designer Lie Sang-bong as well as a masterclass in how to make the perfect Bibimbap, a signature Korean dish. The Festival runs until 9th September.

1031

Last week in Berlin, I stumbled upon Marron, a light-filled corner store filled with simple, lovely designs in the Mitte. Run by interior design group of the same name, Marron is currently hosting a pop-up by Danish design group, Hay. I immediately fell for everything Hay—especially their swoon-worthy desk accessories, from neon-edged desk archive folders (I snapped up two!) to metal Kaleido trays by Clara Von Zweigberk (I regret not snapping up two!). Hay Berlin is up through August.

1021

French chic comes to London with the launch of Chanel’s pop-up beauty and fragrance boutique in Covent Garden’s piazza. Offering mini manicures and makeovers with Chanel’s famous products, the store has even designed an exclusive Covent Garden look of peachy, neutral tones. To mark its first beauty boutique in the UK, a fun pink taxi (nail polish shade 541 Tentation) emblazoned with the Chanel logo is parked up outside. Pop in between now and 27th December and prepare to be perfectly polished, Parisian style.

1011

I have always loved Julian Opie’s work so I was thrilled about his retrospective at the Lisson Gallery, the broadest display of his practice to date. The show celebrates his simple snapshots of everyday life: portraits of faceless walking figures clutching designer bags are showcased alongside beautiful animated landscapes of meadows and starry skies. His choice of materials – vinyl, mosaic, 3D sculpture and LCD – complements his subjects in a beguiling, dynamic way. My favourite piece was a huge LED sculpture of a galloping horse that can be seen from the street outside– I could have watched it all day!

1001

All should visit the incredible tanks uncovered by Herzog & de Meuron at Tate Modern. Having laid empty since 1981, these tanks are now fantastic platforms for live art, performance, installation and film works. My favourite The Crystal Quilt by Suzanne Lacy is a broadcast of 430 women over 60 sharing their views on growing older. Events until 28th October 2012.
