Team NY braved boiling temperatures this week to walk the newly opened phase two of the High Line. The elevated park, which stretches along the west side of Manhattan, has doubled in size. Visitors can now stretch out on seating made from reclaimed teak, snap up sweet and savory treats at gourmet food trucks, or cool down with a frosty brew at the Colicchio & Sons beer garden. We finished our stroll at Rainbow City, a playful exhibit under the park, where Miami art collective FriendsWithYou installed dozens of rainbow-hued inflatable sculptures.
This week, the New York team beat the summer heat with a visit to the Big Gay Ice Cream Truck. Everyday, the truck’s location and daily menu are tweeted to followers eager to get their hands on ice cream cones topped with everything from wasabi pea dust to elderflower syrup to toasted curried coconut. The Camron team braved the line to try the “Salty Pimp” and “Bea Arthur” cones—both of which were worth the wait.
