Somerset House has opened its doors to ‘Pick me Up’, the UK’s first contemporary graphic art fair. Visitors have the opportunity to browse and buy unique contemporary graphic art and design from established and budding designers exhibiting in a great venue. A lively programme of events is on offer, including an open pop-up studio from legendary paper artist Rob Ryan. Bursting with raw talent and an energetic atmosphere, the fair is open until 3rd May, so pop in and find a future classic!

We were thrilled to hear about Gucci’s new pop-up trainer store which is only five minutes from our office in Covent Garden! The store is selling 17 exclusive trainer styles created especially for London by Creative Director, Frida Giannini, including the Gucci Ronson trainer, designed with top music producer, Mark Ronson. The store looks slick – a glossy white box with 12 foot mirrors, iconic branding and silver pedestals – but hurry, these Gucci goodies are a collector’s dream and with only one pair available in each size these shoes won’t be around long!

Gucci Icon Store at 27 Earlham Street, Covent Garden, London until 13 May.

Portcullis waffles mark the spot.

Bompas&Parr, food adventurists extraordinaire open their Parliamentary Waffle House. Bringing a fresh dimension to old debates, the election bar was heaving with chatter, surrounded by the sweet smell of fresh waffles. Uniting the styles of the Houses of Parliament and Europe’s waffle houses, visitors don ‘Party hats’ and waffles are Labour (raspberry), Conservative (blueberry) or Lib-Dem (banana). Spotted was Henry Conway devouring a Lib- Dem waffle washed down with a Prescott Punch, but voting blue with his hat. The Marmite Election and the Election Night Extravaganza are to come.
